Animoca Brands has secured regulatory approval to manage investment funds in Abu Dhabi, marking another step toward expanding its institutional financial services business. The authorization allows its subsidiary, Animoca Asset Management (AD) Limited, to oversee collective investment funds under Abu Dhabi Global Market’s regulatory framework. Consequently, the company can strengthen its position in the Middle East’s growing digital asset investment sector.
Animoca Completes Abu Dhabi Licensing Process
The Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) granted the Financial Services Permission, which took effect October 13. The approval allows Animoca to manage funds targeting professional investors rather than retail clients.
Additionally, the authorization completes a process that began with in-principle approval in November 2025. Animoca also obtained a Dubai license in February for virtual asset brokerage and institutional investment management.
Animoca Expands Its Institutional Strategy
Besides strengthening its regional presence, the approval supports Animoca’s transition into regulated financial services. The company initially focused on mobile gaming before shifting toward blockchain technology in 2018.
Moreover, its investment portfolio includes OpenSea, Dapper Labs, and Sky Mavis. The company now prioritizes stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets, and treasury management.
