Mesh and Visa have partnered to let consumers spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances at more than 175 million merchant locations worldwide. Announced October 19, the integration connects digital wallets to Visa’s payment network, allowing customers to pay online or in stores without manually transferring funds.

Mesh will handle payment funding and currency conversion, enabling merchants to accept payments through existing checkout systems.

The system creates a Visa payment credential in the background, allowing users to pay at contactless terminals or shop online. Participating platforms can also offer crypto spending without managing their own card programs.

Mesh says more than 200 enterprises use its network to connect cryptocurrency wallets, exchanges and payment platforms. However, the companies have not announced a launch date or confirmed which devices will support the service.

Stablecoin Payments Gain Momentum

The partnership follows Mesh’s September deal with Bybit Pay, which lets users fund payments through connected platforms using eligible assets held on exchanges.

Visa research found that 46% of consumers in Asia-Pacific might use stablecoins within five years, while 16% said they had used them in the previous 12 months. However, stated interest does not guarantee future adoption.

The partnership gives Mesh access to Visa’s extensive global payment network, although its practical reach will depend on platform support and service availability.
