Ethereum price prediction for October 22 stays bullish above $2,362, the level ETH needs to hold while buyers try to win back $2,450.
Ethereum Price Analysis: Can ETH Hold Above $2,362?
ETH is holding above the 100-day EMA at $2,361.77 for now, trading at $2,446.45 trading flat today, but it sits below the 50-day EMA at $2,479.13, the 20-day at $2,492.58 and the Bollinger Band midline at $2,519.17, which cap any recovery.
Below price, the 200-day EMA at $2,315.47 and the lower band at $2,295.30 sit close together and form the main support. ETH bounced from that area after sliding from near $2,800 in late September.
ETH looks more likely to test $2,479 than to lose $2,362 on October 22, and a daily close below $2,315 would put the lower band in play.

What Level Does ETH Need for Buyers to Take Control?
Ted (@TedPillows) said on X that ETH spot buyers are waking up and that a daily close above $2,450 is needed for them to take control.
ETH trades at $2,446.45, about 0.15% below that level, and the 50-day EMA at $2,479.13 is the first average above it.
Bitwise Report Shows ETH Staking at a Record While Yield Falls
Ethereum ended the third quarter with 43.80 million ETH staked, or 35.9% of supply, according to Bitwise’s Q3 2026 staking report. The annualized staking yield still slipped to 2.63% from 2.81%, because more ETH is now competing for the same pool of rewards. Bitwise pointed to two drivers:
- Bitmine: Its stake grew from about 410,000 ETH in December to 5.07 million by late September, driving much of the overall increase.
- Yield source: Newly issued ETH supplied about 96.3% of the yield, while average transaction costs fell from $1.35 to $0.45 over the past year, which Bitwise tied to expanded network capacity.
Stakers are therefore being paid almost entirely in new ETH rather than from network activity.
Ethereum Derivatives: Shorts Absorb $62.39M as Open Interest Edges Up
Traders betting against Ethereum accounted for most liquidations over the past 24 hours. Coinglass data shows $62.39 million in short positions were wiped out, out of $90.67 million in total liquidations. Just $5.06 million of the total occurred in the last 12 hours, suggesting the heaviest forced selling had already passed.

Trading activity rose modestly. Derivatives volume increased 1.08% to $35.51 billion, while open interest—the value of outstanding contracts—climbed by the same percentage to $31.11 billion. On Binance, long accounts outnumbered shorts by 2.76 to one, showing a bullish tilt among traders, though that does not guarantee further gains.
| Metric | Value | What it shows |
| Derivatives volume | $35.51B, up 1.08% | A modest increase in trading |
| Open interest | $31.11B, up 1.08% | A slight rise in outstanding positions |
| 24-hour liquidations | $90.67M; shorts $62.39M | Bearish bets took the biggest hit |
| Binance long/short account ratio | 2.76 | Long accounts substantially outnumber shorts |
Ethereum Price Prediction: Bullish and Bearish Scenarios for October 22
Bullish Case, Target: $2,519
ETH holds above $2,362, closes above $2,450 and clears the 50-day EMA at $2,479 and the 20-day at $2,493. That would put the Bollinger Band midline at $2,519 in play, with the upper band at $2,743 beyond it. More short liquidations would fit this path.
Bearish Case, Risk Level: $2,315 (200-Day EMA)
ETH closes below the 100-day EMA at $2,362 and slides toward the 200-day at $2,315, which sits beside the lower band at $2,295. A close below that cluster would break the support ETH bounced from this month, and another day of ETF outflows would fit this path.

FAQs
ETH could extend toward $2,479 and then $2,519 if it holds above $2,362 and closes above $2,450. Losing $2,362 risks a slide toward the 200-day EMA at $2,315.
US spot Ethereum ETFs lost $26.13M on October 20 and have logged outflows on 13 of 14 sessions in October, according to SoSoValue. The only inflow was $24.84M on October 13, and cumulative net inflows stand at $12.81B.
Ted (@TedPillows) said a daily close above $2,450 is needed to put spot buyers in control. ETH trades at $2,446.45, just under that level, and the 50-day EMA at $2,479.13 is the next average above it.
Ethereum’s annualized staking yield fell to 2.63% from 2.81% in the third quarter, even as a record 43.80 million ETH was staked, according to Bitwise. Newly issued ETH supplied about 96.3% of that yield.
ETH has slipped from near $2,800 in late September to about $2,446, while US spot Ethereum ETFs lost roughly $1.08 billion in October, with outflows on 13 of 14 sessions, according to SoSoValue. Fund selling is one source of pressure on price, but the data does not show it as the only cause.
