Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal has launched a crypto donation campaign to support Nepal’s government relief fund after a devastating glacier-related disaster.
Nailwal announced the campaign on September 4, giving global donors an on-chain route to contribute stablecoins to Nepal’s relief efforts. He said stablecoins can help move emergency aid quickly when traditional payment channels face delays.
Crypto Donations Target Government Relief
The campaign had raised $168,741 at the time of writing, according to Nepalrelief.org. Donors can contribute crypto from multiple blockchains, while Open Money Stack will handle bridging, routing and conversion.

Cross River Bank will help convert crypto proceeds into fiat for Nepal, while Coinme will provide payment infrastructure and crypto cash services.
Blockchain For Impact pledged $100,000 to the campaign. Ripple also committed $300,000 toward relief efforts, while the Solana Foundation and Mallow raised $166,946.50.
Disaster Leaves Thousands Missing
The disaster began on August 26 when a glacier-related slope failure triggered a massive debris flow and flood in northern Nepal. The surge destroyed roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
Nepal has reported more than 1,250 deaths and thousands of missing people. The UN says about 84,270 people have been affected and launched a $49.6 million humanitarian appeal.
