  • X introduces a “Trade” option in Cashtags, linking users to brokers and crypto exchanges.
  • Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini connect users to stock and crypto trading.
  • Trade execution and asset custody stay with partner platforms, outside of X.

X has launched its Cashtag Partner Program in the United States, adding a “Trade” option that connects discussions with participating brokers and cryptocurrency exchanges. The rollout lets users move from a supported ticker’s price chart and related posts to a partner platform, shortening the path from spotting a market move to placing an order.

Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini form the partner lineup. Together, they connect X’s feeds with platforms handling stock, ETF and cryptocurrency transactions, while execution and custody remain outside the social network.

From Cashtag Charts to Trading Platforms

The process starts when a user taps a supported Cashtag, such as $BTC, $ETH or $TSLA. X displays an asset panel containing price information and related discussions, bringing market data alongside the posts that may have prompted the user’s interest.

From that panel, the new “Trade” option directs users to a participating provider’s mobile app or website. Users then complete their transactions through that provider rather than submitting orders for execution within X.

This connection addresses a step in the trading process. Someone following financial news on X can reach a trading platform from the asset panel, reducing the need to switch applications and search for the same ticker again.

Five Partners Connect Stocks and Crypto

The launch brings brokerage and exchange access into the same Cashtag workflow. Interactive Brokers and Moomoo provide the connection for stocks and ETFs, while Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini supply the cryptocurrency links.

For crypto users, those exchange partnerships create a route from token discussions to external trading services, positioning X as a gateway rather than a trading venue. The platform provides financial information and routes users to brokers and exchanges that handle execution and custody.

The rollout cements X as a gateway between market discussion and trading activity, not a venue for execution. By reducing friction between discovery and action, it could increase retail participation, though whether it drives new trades or just speeds up existing behavior remains to be seen.
