- Six token unlocks worth about $157 million arrive, led by Akedo Games at $62.42M.
- LayerZero unlocks $47.14 million in ZRO on October 20 for investors and the team.
- Humanity Protocol faces the largest relative unlock, at 12.72% of its market cap.
About $157 million in tokens is due to unlock across six projects between October 19 and 25, led by Akedo Games and LayerZero, as Bitcoin tries to hold the $82,000 level it regained after an inflation scare.
Six Releases, Two Heavyweights
Data shows these schedules, ranked by value:
- Akedo Games (AKE), October 21: 2.11 billion tokens worth $62.42 million, or 9.25% of market cap. Roughly 47% of the supply is already unlocked.
- LayerZero (ZRO), October 20: 25.71 million tokens worth $47.14 million, about 6.43% of market cap.
- Plasma (XPL), October 25: $17.52 million, or 5.02% of market cap.
- Humanity Protocol (H), October 25: $15.32 million, the largest relative hit at 12.72% of market cap.
- YZY, October 21: $8.17 million.
- SoSoValue (SOSO), October 24: $6.83 million.
AKE and ZRO together make up about 70% of the weekly total by my calculation. Another tracker that counts only cliff unlocks puts the week’s total near $126 million, with slightly lower values, including $43.54 million for ZRO.
LayerZero in Focus
The ZRO release goes to private investors and the founder and team, as part of a monthly schedule with eight further unlocks through June 20, 2027. The token rose about 82% between September 1 and October 18, to around $1.86, which adds to the risk of selling.
LayerZero has been buying ZRO on the open market with Stargate revenue, about 2.54 million tokens so far. Its upcoming ATLAS exchange is designed to put 75% of post-venue economics into buying and burning ZRO, though that depends on the volume it attracts. The protocol’s fee switch stayed off after a June 2026 vote, and no new vote date has been set.
Market Backdrop
Bitcoin fell below $80,000 on Thursday after September U.S. producer prices rose 1.3% from August, the biggest monthly gain since March 2022. CPI came in at 3.7%, above forecasts.
Buyers pushed the price back to about $82,000 by Friday. Fed Chair Warsh gave no rate guidance, and traders reduced bets on an October hike.
Other Token Moves
- NeoSoul’s DNA launched October 16 with 13% of its 1 billion supply circulating. Team lockups depend on performance targets, not fixed dates.
- Osmosis contributors plan to submit a proposal on October 20 to end OSMO inflation and fund staking rewards from protocol revenue alone.
- Lighter burned 2.45 million LIT on October 12, and Sonic burned 5.9 million unclaimed S on October 15.
With roughly $157 million in scheduled token unlocks, Akedo Games and LayerZero account for most of the week’s potential supply increase. While unlocks do not automatically lead to selling, investor reactions will depend on how recipients manage their allocations and whether market demand can absorb the additional tokens.
