  • Bitcoin holds key $84,300 support as buyers target a recovery toward $87,220.
  • BTC open interest cools to $54.74B, easing leverage from previous market extremes.
  • Strive adds 2,000 BTC for $169M, lifting its total Bitcoin holdings to 29,462.

Bitcoin faces renewed short-term pressure as corporate accumulation and softer leverage shape the market outlook. BTC trades near $85,220 after falling 0.84% over 24 hours. However, the cryptocurrency remains 2.81% higher over seven days.

Bitcoin Buyers Defend the $84,300 Region

Bitcoin’s four-hour structure remains constructive despite its retreat from the $87,000 area. BTC continues trading above its rising longer-term exponential moving averages.

However, price has slipped below the 20-period EMA near $85,373. This move signals weaker short-term momentum following the recent rejection.

Immediate resistance sits around $85,400. A recovery above this region could bring $86,216 back into focus.

Beyond that level, buyers would likely target the recent $87,220 high. Breaking that barrier could strengthen Bitcoin’s broader bullish structure.

On the downside, the $84,300 to $84,700 region remains crucial. The 50-period EMA currently strengthens this support area.

Consequently, losing that zone could expose $83,600. The 100-period EMA near $83,572 could then provide another defensive level.

Additionally, momentum has entered oversold territory based on Stochastic RSI readings. That setup could encourage another rebound attempt from nearby support.

Derivatives Leverage Remains Below Previous Extremes

Bitcoin open interest stands near $54.74 billion after previously exceeding $80 billion. The decline shows substantial leverage left the market during earlier corrections.

Since then, open interest has largely stabilized between $50 billion and $60 billion. Hence, derivatives activity remains strong without reaching previous extremes.

This environment could reduce pressure from heavily leveraged positions. Moreover, rising open interest alongside stronger prices could signal renewed speculative demand.

Spot flows provide a more mixed picture. Bitcoin recorded a $17.82 million net outflow on October 6. Recent months have also produced several substantial inflow spikes. However, repeated outflows followed many of those accumulation periods.

Strive Expands Its Bitcoin Treasury

Strive acquired the 2,000 Bitcoin between September 28 and October 2. The company paid an average price of approximately $84,422 per coin.

Significantly, the latest acquisition represents Strive’s largest purchase since June. That earlier transaction added 2,500 Bitcoin to its treasury.

The latest purchase brings Strive’s holdings to 29,462 BTC. Those assets carry a value near $2.5 billion at current market prices.

Moreover, Strive’s buying occurred while Bitcoin traded around levels that now provide important technical support. Corporate demand could strengthen market confidence during pullbacks.

However, institutional purchases alone cannot determine Bitcoin’s next move. Short-term momentum and derivatives positioning remain important factors for traders.

Technical Outlook for Bitcoin Price

Key levels remain important for Bitcoin heading into the next trading phase:

Upside levels: $85,400 is the immediate resistance area, followed by $86,216 and $87,220. A sustained break above $87,220 could reinforce the broader bullish structure.

Downside levels: $84,739 provides the first important support, followed by $84,323. A deeper correction could expose $83,638 and the 100 EMA near $83,572.

Resistance ceiling: The $85,400–$85,500 zone remains the first major hurdle for BTC. Reclaiming this area could strengthen momentum and bring $86,216 back into focus.

The technical picture shows Bitcoin undergoing a short-term pullback after rejection around $87,000. However, price remains above the rising 50, 100, and 200 EMAs, keeping the broader four-hour structure constructive.

Will Bitcoin Price Go Up?

Bitcoin’s near-term outlook hinges on whether buyers can defend the $84,300–$84,700 support zone. Holding this region could provide the foundation for another recovery toward $85,400 and $86,216.

Additionally, Stochastic RSI has fallen into oversold territory. Consequently, exhausted selling momentum could support a short-term rebound if buyers return around current levels.

Bitcoin open interest stands near $54.74 billion, well below its previous peak above $80 billion. Hence, leverage has cooled considerably while derivatives participation remains substantial.

However, spot flows continue to send mixed signals. Bitcoin recorded a $17.82 million net outflow on October 6 after several larger inflow spikes since August.

Failure to defend $84,300 could deepen the correction toward $83,600. Below that region, the broader range floor near $82,631 would become increasingly important.

For now, Bitcoin remains at a key technical crossroads. Strive’s $169 million Bitcoin purchase highlights continued corporate accumulation, while price action around $84,300 should determine the next direction.
