Abstract will shut down its layer-2 network on Dec. 15, 2026, ending a project that struggled to maintain growth as competition increased.
In a post on X, Abstract said users will need to move their assets before the deadline through Abstract’s Migration Hub or native bridge. Funds left on the network after the shutdown could become inaccessible, making the deadline important for users holding assets there.
Abstract Cites Growth Challenges
Abstract said the network processed more than 325 million transactions and recorded $6 billion in decentralized-exchange volume. More than 4 million wallets also joined through Abstract Global Wallet.

The network attracted more than 100 apps and generated over $40 million in revenue. Companies including Disney and Red Bull Racing also used Abstract to launch onchain experiences.
Despite that activity, Abstract said the network faced thin liquidity, limited DeFi use and weak institutional demand. Those challenges made it difficult to sustain the chain, leading the company to wind down the network.
Users Urged to Migrate Funds
Abstract said migrations through its native bridge could take up to three hours. Its teams will also work with projects that need to move applications and assets to other networks.
The company advised users to move funds early rather than wait until the shutdown date. It also warned users about fake migration sites and impersonation attempts and urged them to verify migration links through Abstract’s official channels.
