- Only 3.49% of ETH supply remains on tracked exchanges, tightening immediate liquidity.
- About 43.46M ETH, roughly 35% of supply, is staked as exchange balances decline.
- ETH needs a sustained break above $2,920 to strengthen the technical path toward $3,400.
Ethereum’s shrinking exchange balance is tightening immediate liquidity, but weaker daily momentum leaves $2,920 as the level needed to confirm further upside.
| CHART HIGH | EXCHANGE SUPPLY | KEY SUPPORT | UPSIDE REFERENCE |
| $2,807 | 3.49% | $2,440 | $3,400 |
Record-Low Exchange Supply Tightens Immediate Liquidity
Ethereum’s exchange balance has fallen to a record low as its weekly price structure improves. However, the tighter supply backdrop has not yet confirmed a breakout. Santiment data shows just 3.49% of total supply remains on the exchanges it tracks.
Another 1.16% has moved off those platforms since June 1. Basically, lower exchange balances reduce the amount immediately available for spot selling. That can make price more responsive when buying demand strengthens against thinner available supply.

Still, lower balances do not guarantee higher prices. Coins moved away from exchanges can return when holders choose to sell. Staking adds another constraint to liquidity. Ethereum.org reports about 43.46 million ETH staked, equivalent to roughly 35% of total supply.
Those coins are less immediately liquid than exchange-held balances. However, validators can withdraw, while liquid-staking products remain tradable. Ethereum also has about $53.5 billion in decentralized finance total value locked, according to DefiLlama. That figure includes multiple assets, not only ETH.
$2,920 Must Confirm the Improving Weekly Structure
The supply contraction is developing alongside a stronger weekly chart. According to analyst Wise Crypto, ETH reached $2,807, marking its first higher high since August 2025. Former resistance near $2,438 has turned into support. Moreover, weekly RSI climbed to 64, reflecting the improvement in the broader structure.

The daily chart, however, shows weaker momentum. The ETH price has formed higher highs, while the RSI has recorded lower highs, creating bearish divergence. Trading volume has also declined. That combination shows price strength has not been matched by stronger momentum or expanding participation.
The chart therefore leaves $2,920 as the main confirmation level. A sustained break above it would strengthen the technical case for the $3,400 reference. Until then, shrinking supply remains a supportive condition rather than confirmation that another leg higher has begun.
$2,440 Support Defines the Failure Point
The downside structure remains important, as tighter supply does not override technical support. Holding $2,440 preserves the newly established higher-high structure.
However, a break below that level would weaken the setup and expose the $1,950 to $2,000 zone identified in the analysis. On the upside, $2,920 separates an improving structure from confirmed continuation, while the $3,400 level remains the main upside reference after confirmation.
| LEVEL | ROLE |
| $3,400 | Main upside reference after confirmation |
| $2,920 | Breakout and demand-confirmation level |
| $2,440 | Key support preserving the improved structure |
| 1,950–2,000 | Downside zone if support fails |
EXPANSION CASE
A volume-supported break above $2,920 would confirm stronger demand despite weaker daily momentum. That would strengthen the technical path toward the $3,400 reference.
FAILURE CASE
Repeated rejection below $2,920 would leave the breakout unconfirmed. A loss of $2,440 would weaken the structure and expose the lower support zone.
BOTTOM LINE
Record-low exchange supply and high staking participation have tightened Ethereum’s immediate liquidity backdrop. However, those conditions remain supportive rather than decisive.
Bearish RSI divergence and declining volume show that momentum has not confirmed the move. For now, $2,920 remains the key breakout test.
