RWA-linked perpetual contracts are gaining attention as traders seek ways to adjust their exposure to U.S. stocks outside regular market hours, according to Binance Research.

U.S. stock exchanges operate about 32.5 hours a week, accounting for 87.2% of total equity trading volume. This leaves limited options for investors reacting to major company or market news overnight.

Macro News Drives Overnight Trading

The September Federal Reserve decision showed how quickly equity-linked perpetuals can respond to market-moving events. SPYUSDT rose 1.11% overnight, while TMFUSDT gained 2.45%. UVXYUSDT fell 5.94%, while 16 equity-linked contracts correctly reflected moves in their underlying markets.

Trading volume across the contracts reached $1.02 billion while U.S. cash markets were closed.

Policy Events Support Demand

The SEC’s Innovation Exemption also triggered sharp moves. HOOD, CRCL and BMNR each gained more than 4%, with their perpetual contracts moving beyond the gaps recorded when U.S. markets reopened.

During the S&P DJI rebalance closure, 198 TradFi perpetuals recorded $7.25 billion in volume. Contracts tied to newly added index stocks gained 1.01%, compared with SPY’s 0.39% rise.

Weekend activity was quieter around Anthropic’s delayed IPO, with its perpetual falling 0.89%. September volume reached $643 million across 12 venues, while Binance open interest rose 88% over 30 days.
